Gold testing via acid solutions are a classic way of testing gold items for their karat values. This method is best used on scrap gold to be smelted due to the destructive nature of the testing, but can be used on gold pieces to be worn if the testing if done in an inconspicuous spot.
Procedures for Testing Gold, Platinum and Silver:
To test for the karat value of gold, platinum and silver, you will need the following materials and tools:
Black acid testing stone that is washed thoroughly (we recommend the use of acid neutralizer) prior to each test
A needle file
Acids
Reference Gold - Either Gold Testing Needles or Verified Gold Pieces
PLEASE NOTE: Gold testing acids are made using NITRIC ACID that can harm the skin. Please exercise caution when using this method of testing, including proper protective eye wear and gloves. Nitric Acid can burn the skin and leave stains.
Contains enough for hundreds of tests!
Testing for Platinum
Scratch the test piece on the stone and apply one drop of Platinum Testing Acid to the application on the stone. If the material is platinum, it should keep it's white, bright color.
The neutralizer will prepare a test stone for accurate testing and also help spare your fingers and clothes from burns and stains while using gold testing acid.
NOTE: We are an authorized distributor of JSP.

RETURNS
GENERAL RETURN POLICY
If you are not satisfied with the item(s) purchased from us, you may return your item(s) in original condition for a refund within 30 days of
receipt
after contacting us. No returns will be accepted for any reason after the 30-day period.
Items returned in unused, original condition, will be refunded in full. However,
restocking fees may apply
to discretionary returns or returns that arrive back not in the original conditions sent.
Returned merchandise must include all original packaging, along with included contents and accessories, bonus items, documents or paperwork, and Proof of Purchase in order for the full refund to be honored.

The customer is responsible for shipping costs on any returned merchandise.
There will be no refunds or exchanges for used gold testers or any testing liquids (gold testing liquid, acids, R.I. liquid, gel refills).

DAMAGED/DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE:
If you receive a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, contact us within 2 days. If you receive merchandise with extensive damage to its packaging upon arrival, please refuse the order and contact us immediately. In such an event, we recommend that you contact the shipper immediately to report the damaged goods.
WARRANTY:
All warranties are offered solely by the manufacturer. If you want to return an item more than 14 days after you received it from us, you will need to contact the manufacturer, which we can assist you with.
