Driver killed when NJ Transit train hits vehicle in railroad crossing

A motorist died Monday when his vehicle was struck by an NJ Transit train at a crossing in Morris County, officials said.
Montclair-Boonton Line train 1074 — which left Hackettstown at 8:24 a.m. and was slated to arrive in Hoboken at 10:30 a.m. — struck a vehicle at the Ryerson Road crossing in Lincoln Park at 9:27 a.m., according to an NJ Transit spokesman.
The man driving the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesman said. Officials did not immediately release the driver’s name.
The roughly 40 passengers and crew on the train were uninjured, the spokesman said. Passengers were taken to their destination via bus.
NJ Transit Police are leading the crash investigation.
